Lighting a Fire: Arts, Education & Ireland’s Culture’ conference
On Friday, April 19, 2013, The Council of National Cultural Institutions hosted a conference in response to the 2012 publication of Ireland’s National Arts in Education Charter. Under the direction of Jeff M. Poulin, MA, practitioners and policymakers from across the Republic gathered at the National Gallery of Ireland to move the policy forward.
With keynote speakers Anne Bamford, Paul Collard, and Margaret Wyszomirski, the program illuminated transformative ideas and produced a report with numerous recommendations, which have been implemented in the following years.

National Arts in Education Week
Passed by Congress in 2010, House Resolution 275 designates the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. Annually, during this week, the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to tell the story of the impact of the transformative power of the arts in education.
Jeff M. Poulin led this initiative beginning in 2014 to unify the diverse set of stakeholders across the country to celebrate. Beginning with a small online presence, and ending with events in over 800 communities, reaching some 65+ million individuals, Jeff’s efforts to mobilize stakeholders was incredibly successful and lives on through the field-wide effort annually from coast to coast.
Bord Gáis Energy Theatre
Throughout 2012-13, The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Ireland’s premiere live performance venue explored their audiences and provided experiential educational opportunities for youth and adults in tandem to their robust performance schedule.
Through the leadership of Jeff M. Poulin, the audience development initiative undertook large-scale research and produced engaging educational events for the first time.
Young Audiences Residency Teaching Artist Credential
In 2019, Jeff joined project director, Susan Oetgen, as increased capacity to aid in the research, communications, and development of project components.
He worked with stakeholders to craft strategic professional development and revise the 2019 credential for 2020.
Clare Rose Foundation
In April 2019, Jeff M. Poulin was contracted by the Clare Rose Foundation as a researcher to inform their work with the Creative Youth Development National Partnership.
A collective impact grantee of the National Endowment for the Arts, the effort underwent strategic changes, utilizing Jeff’s research to inform the process and future of their work.
Arts Education Leadership
Published in February 2019 by Americans for the Arts, Jeff’s research and publications on the topic of arts education leadership fueled extensive speaking and training throughout the United States.
Throughout the fall of 2019, Jeff has advised curriculum development for STEAM education programs and products for PCS Edventures!
From 2019-2020, Jeff M. Poulin was a contributor to the Clyde Fitch Report.
The Clyde Fitch Report acts as the nexus of arts and politics. It serves as a marketplace to challenge and to debate; to interweave openness with obstreperousness; to be a forum where representatives of artistic disciplines and a range of political beliefs may engage and argue, teach and learn, discover their commonalities, and, if possible, demolish their differences.
Appointed from November 2019 - June 2020, Jeff served as an adjunct lecturer of Arts Education in an Urban Setting in the Graduate Program in Education Theatre at City College of New York.
In Spring 2020, Jeff hosted a series of virtual professional development opportunities focused on casemakerqing and storytelling to advance theatre education in schools and communities.
